Our multi-channel launch campaign for Canva showcases the platform's promise that anyone can use it to create impressive visual materials without the need for extensive design education. But there's a small problem with this: people will find it hard to believe that those with no prior design experience could make such brilliant designs.

'Make it Unbelievable' features Takeshi Kitano, the world-known auteur celebrated for his comedy and yakuza films, and Gekidan Hitori, a Japanese filmmaker and actor who recently made a biopic based on Kitano's life. Picked for their well-known on-screen personas, they quickly revert to these when a proud Kitano shows Gekidan Hitori a presentation he has created on Canva for his new venture. It's of such a high standard, that Hitori doesn't believe Kitano actually made it himself and tells him so. Things go sideways from there and escalate to a dramatic degree, with both stars sticking to their versions till the bitter end. 

For the second chapter of our “Make it Unbelievable” campaign, Takeshi Kitano and Gekidan Hitori are back, this time as rival daimyos in the Sengoku era. After years of war, they have finally agreed to put an end to hostilities. To celebrate, Kitano made a stunning SNS post. He proudly shows it to Hitori, who, smirking, refuses to believe Kitano could've created something so pretty. The disbelief escalates quickly—threatening not just their truce, but the entire nation!

For the third episode of the “Make it Unbelievable” trilogy, Takeshi Kitano returns as the CEO of a fashion brand poised to take over Japan's couture scene. But when Kitano discovers that his franchisees have been messing with his logo, he's the one in disbelief.

When you pair up two celebrities with little in common except a growling appetite, you get some pretty off-the-wall comedy. And a roaring success. 

Our launch campaigns for Uber Eats Japan feature the likes of Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, Kei Nishikori, Nana Komatsu and Hiroshi Abe. Megastar duos declared their cravings across TV spots, bite-sized social media clips and humongous billboards at Shibuya Crossing. Not long after the launch, Uber Eats became Japan's no.1 food delivery service. Yum.

Oddballs meet meatballs

Before coming up with each of the ideas below, we had to make massive amounts of popcorn, get into our PJs, and find the snuggest corner on the sofa before pressing play. We called it "research". The result? Some of our favorite work, including an award-winning poster, a break-dancing grandpa, and a superhuman jump across Tokyo's skyline. And that's only in season one!

When you have a show with the following premise: "The ultimate battle between Gods and men to decide the fate of humanity," your thumbnails better be good. So we decided to give them a royal manicure. We crafted eight different thumbnails, focusing on eight distinct aspects of the show, catered to various audiences and tastes. The result? The show hit no. 1 in Japan a week after launch. Thumbs up!


On May 7 & 8, Tokyo Rainbow Pride was held in Yoyogi Park, Harajuku. At this event, UltraSuperNew helped Netflix
Japan with the promotion of Orange Is the New Black. USN developed the strategy and creative, launching a booth
at the center of Rainbow Pride and designing a print ad. We developed the key visual by changing the color of the
characters' costumes into a rainbow to show support to the LGBT community. This print ad won the Gold
Award at Graphis Competition 2018, an international competition for graphic design, making USN one of the first
Japanese creative agencies to win an international award for an LGBT-themed advertisement.

"There is Hip Hop in all of us!" This was the premise for making the videos to promote the new Netflix Original Series "The Get Down."

In order to make the show more appealing to a broader audience than Hip Hop enthusiasts alone, we focused on the idea that we all have a Hip Hop side to our individual personalities. By capturing typical scenes of daily life, such as a middle-aged woman doing laundry or a grandfather simply waking up, we made a connection between Hip Hop and a wide audience in Japan.

To promote Marvel's "Jessica Jones" Netflix TV Series, we wanted to show what it can be like to be able to super jump like Jessica Jones who possess superhuman powers like having the ability to jump up high. We shot this using a drone with a 360 degree camera attached and shot the skylines of Tokyo. Dare to jump like her?

The experience was created for Facebook's new 360 degree video viewer and Oculus Rift.
